This is a hand made, O gauge low relief model of a decorators merchant's shop and workshop with owner's accommodation above.
J.L Putt's premises has highly detailed window displays include one dedicated to wallpaper and in this case around 75 rolls of wallpaper existing in the 1930's have been modelled. On the other side of the doorway there is a second window display dedicated to paints and other similar products contained in paint pots and tins.
The two large containers would have held turpentine and linseed oil, which would have been used in the mixing of paints, which in the era depicted, would have taken place 'in house.'
